I cleaned my bike today after gettin filthy yesterday, i started the bike after cleaning it an it ran fine with the choke on, i left the bike to warm up for a bit then turn the choke off an it ticked over like normal but soon as you touch the rev the bike dies, it is also back firing a bit when i try an rev it.I pluged the exhaust and covered the filter when i was cleaning it so i dont think it will have sucked it water or anything like that so i dont have a clue what it could be, if anyone has got an idea what could be wrong plz let me know.

thanks

whilst watermay not have entered the carb through the inlet hole it could have got in through the throttle cable and onto the slide. take it apart and dry it all out

well you said about the carb having 'water' in it? I would check the carb over throughly, and clean the jets, check the needle etc.
Just when you take it apart put it in order so when you replace it it's not goning to be a mission like it was for me.

This sounds exactly like the running problems that I am having with my X-sport. Just wont rev cleanly, although if you can work through the lumpy patch and blast it - it will go.
I have had the carb off mine twice and still no joy. I'm sure it's a fuelling problem rather than electrical. I also notice fuel dripping from air filter on mine.
Sorry I can't help - I,m stuck on this myself

sorted it mate, took the carb off and there was a load of mud stuck in the bottom of the float chamber an 1 of the jets was blocked, cleaned it all up an put it back together an its all sound now back to the way it was, thanks for the help lads.

your bike is running too rich open the air mixture screw about 1/4 to half a turn
its under the carb but you will after take the carb of to get to it :)

Thanks for the reply - I have adjusted the airscrew and it seems to have improved matters. ( no fuel pouring out back of carb ) I am at least 3 full turns out now - does this sound right ?
But the bike still seems real spluttery in the mid range , you can get through it and blast the bike and it seems OK.
The plug is still black.
