covers were washed in hot soapy water,, wirebrushed,, sanded,, white primed & painted with standard red spraypaint - wilkos branded multi surface enamel aerosols - the parts were stood in front of a domestic fan heater before and after painting to heat the metal up - i find you get a nice result with the bake effect !!!

naa,, paint seems pretty stable when applied to a heated surface - i do recommend heating the parts before you paint em tho.. the only other downside really is painting the timing chain sprocket cover - they're usually a shiny chrome finish so you need to sand it right down to give the paint a decent surface to sit on, otherwise it scratched straight off.. all i'll say about the heat factor is Don't paint your exhaust pipe !!! although you can get away with doing the silencer if you want..

project nearing completion now,, jobs left to do - brakes, exhaust, footpegs, stand, tank tap, plastics !!
had pure grief yesterday fitting the chain without a split link - over 2 hours to remove a link & fit the damm thing,, then i found that the rear flywheel cover plate bolt had been eated down to the engine case - tried to drill it but was having none of it,, so i found an allen bolt & nut.. drilled the engine the same size as the bolt head & sunk that baby in there - works a charm!! hand fabricated a nice rolling chain tensioner out of random bits - actually a better fitting than the stock one on my cr3 cooper replica !!
what else,, more grief - front calliper from cr3 does NOT fit this front wheel rotor,, so i'll be digging around for a replacement !! still trying to locate wheel spacers for the front wheel too - theres always something missing !!!! but hey,, it can fight me as much as it wants - it makes it that bit more satisfying when its complete !!

What did you paint it with, and what bits didnt you paint?
Im looking to paint and freshen up my lump once i get it as theres no point minting out the frame, swingarm and so on and having a dirty engine

,,,just use regular enamel aerosil... make sure you clean the engine thoroughly first though,, i washed mine down with hot soapy stuff first, then spirit, then wirebrushed & then with sandpaper.. heated the whole thing up in front of a domestic fan heater & then sprayed & then cooked some more !!!! used wilkos branded standard black gloss spray, bout £3 a can.. basically i've painted eveything that isn't plastic, rubber or a ballbearing !! toying with the idea of doing all the but & bolt ends too,, but thats probably just overkill !!!
