Just got my road legal today, i love it (except for the all down gears...) and of coarse needs a bit of work.

Tell me what you think, cheers.

I dont like choppers really although I know a guy from sweden that makes these kind of bikes using minibike engines

You can see it has potential to be a quality bike. The paint job is class. Especially that tank.

Personally, I'd clean it up. Then get some new sprockets and a new chain. New front mudflap. Sorted.

I'd also swap out that engine for a 110-125cc and polish the casings. Bike would look lush in my eyes, wouldn't mind a project like that myself

I paid 300 for it, i am cleaning it up a bit but as im only 16 this year i cant put a bigger engine in yet (hopefully later on) and yea the gap above the engine isnt the best but you dont see many of these around.

cheers for the comments

so you manage the same speed as my 125cc monkeybike? which haappens to be bigger cc, weigh less than ur chopper, and have a 22mm carb..... no way does yours hit 55...

I think he means Kph, as these bikes are imports which is about 34mph.

Oh god my eyes! Its actually not that bad and your 16 so without spending stupid amounts of money you wont get a 'cool' bike. Keep it standard and in good condition, learn how to survive on the roads and maintenance then sell it for what you bought it for. Win

well i quite like the look of the bike, i like it being kinda slow as then there is a smaller chance of me getting a speeding ticket plus it feels much more comfy than a racing bike.

The big difference between a 125 and a 50 in these road conditions is the torque levels. Max speed is only 5-10mph different. But these 125s are ridiculously quick off the line.

Id also keep legal, get a good ground for road riding on a smaller engine and just top up all aspects of bike keeping. Not the easiest of bikes to maintain, but its sure not the hardest.

Don't be scared to have a tinker.

If you are going down the route of derestricting this, the restrictions will be in the carb and/or air filter and the exhaust will have the same diameter as a drinking straw. Other than that, I dont think there would be any other.. the CDI wont be restricted although some claim they are. If it has an E22 head, your winning!

Enjoy!

why would i lie wbout how fast my 50 goes, and yes i did get it to do 55, and i have also
changed the gearing, im also guessing that your monkey bike has 10" wheels and the back wheel
on my chopper is 12" but whith the tyre it is about 16".

Did have a tinker with it today, the manifold was big enough for a bigger carb and just that change makes the bike rev alot more and now runs perfectly, i found the restrictor in the exhaust which i was expecting a washer but instead they just welded it smaller... now to take the restrictor out and hopefully i can get about 40mph or a bit more. Im aiming to look after it for a year and they selling or maybe add a 125

means I could gear my 125 up to whatever speed, but the engine would never pull it. my 125 happily pulls 58mph tops. No way does your 3hp 50cc pull 55. No freaking way. my 125 just about pulls 58 tops without bogging....

my 50 will do 55 but only on the flat and if its screaming it nuts off.
