View Full Version : How can I stiffen up and reduce the travel on my forks?

I have recently ordered my new MXB pitbike which I am going to convert to supermoto spec. It currently has 6' of travel in the front forks, this would be great for motocross but not ideal for supermoto.

Can I buy uprated springs or modify the existing springs? Also would changing the fork oil for a thicker grade work? I have also read on a forum somewhere that you can increase the amount of oil to stiffen up the forks!

All info will be gratefully received!!!:D

you can add more and thicker oil to forks. Also spacers can be used to increase spring rate.

I have found out that there is no oil in the new MXB forks. One side has a sealed damper and the other side contains an oil free spring.

I'm hoping that I can still remove the spring cap and insert spacers/washers!!

What sort of spacers apart from washers could be used?

you can use steel or ally tube. Not sure what you can do with your sort of forks though
