hi
im new to the scene, but after 9 years racing DH mountain bikes....5 years of bmx and the odd weekend blat on my mates crm250 and ktm 200 thing, i recently bumped into some old school mates at my local spot (pineham mx and bmx track) ripping it up on some 110 xsports.never seen these things in the metal before, had ago, wouldnt get off...and the story begins!

anyway i have been saving up for a crf250 for about 18 months and nearly have all the funds (i thought mtb's cost lots!) but there is no way im getting it now!

to cut a long story short....im not exactly a pussy as iv grown up with bikes-but my sport is push bikes, and i mearly want a reliable crosser for fun and to help with my training.as pitbikes are more 'chuckable' and i wont have to have a stupid tow bar and trailor well......same reasons you lot have 'em

soo im pretty sure ill be after a thumper, but whats all this i see about tuning crf50's. it looks alot more expensive (bore kits USD's even factory frames costing the same as a new monster!)soo why is it soo popular?
ill be going for an outright pitbike myself...but for the long term pro rider is that what its all about?
cheers
scrotty:D

just want to know more about the sport and where ill stand as a weekend blatter :p

Yeah. PitBikes are a great way of getting into Supermoto/Motorcross/Supercross....The list goes on.

They're cheaper. But you get just as much fun.
You can go on road and off road. Twice as much fun.
Lighter.

Also. I think they are smaller than MotoX Bikes, Which benefits the smaller people.

A lot of people move up from Minimotos to these bikes, to get into gears and stuff.

Good luck getting a PitBike mate.
Hope to see you on your bike ;)

Regards
Marcus

Pit bikes in my eyes are a cheap way to have fun, i personally wouldnt pay over 600 pound for one, if i was seirous about the sport and thought about racing then i would maybe buy one off the up market models, all i want is something to have fun on with my mates on the weekend, hence i got a Rampage 110.

It all depends on what you want with the pit bike, buy a thumpstar if you want the 'name' buy a atomic / red baron if you want to race, buy a rampage if you want to throw it about. not being biased because i own one lol, but no doubt if i had the money i would probably buy a thump elite, but i will never have that kind of money to spend on a pit bike....yet
