With more and more people getting hi-compression big capacity engines I thought I better make a thread so people don’t go wrecking there engines.
Its mainly a problem with:
Lifan 140
YX Motorsport 140
YX Motorsport 150
And other engines with HI-Comp pistons
If you don't do it like i say you are in great risk of bending/ snapping the kick-start shaft or stripping the kick-start sprocket which can lead to bust bearings, cracked cases and a load of other problems as well as having to change the kick start sprocket/ shaft.
I know of quite a few people doing this and blaming the engine been bad, when its really there own fault.
Bike in neutral
Slowly push down the kick-start till it gets to the point where its very hard to move, this is the compression stroke of the engine.
Now slowly push it through this stage till it sort of clicks, this is when the exhaust valve has opened and piston is starting to go back down.
Now take the kick-start right back to the top and do a full kick and the engine should fire up.
If it doesn’t then repeat this.
It only takes about an extra 10s every time you start your bike but its is vital for the life span of your engine.
