Basically my rear end is far too soft. I.e when you sit on it the shock completely bottoms out. Now I don't have 275quid to buy an elka shock and only ride i occasionally fr a laugh with friends so I'm not bothered about performance. A mate suggested I may be able to salvage a harder spring from an old scooter or alike? Anyone else overcome this problem without spending much?
Thanks all

i had the same problem on my thumpstar but i bought ishock, altought i didnt want to spend much either. You get what you pay for so cheaper may go wrong again but if you dont ride much then im sure you could get a cheaper one to last. Your best bet is propablly www.ebay.co.uk (http://www.ebay.co.uk) and search pit bike shock and get one for under 50quid if not kitaco do a shock for 60quid that you can get off monkey bike uk or minixuk

get a fastace ace shock mate, they're a replica of the ishock and are fully adjustable. Good value for money, you'll find em on ebay they look just like the ishock with the resevoir

A good shock will transform your bikes handling .
Spend as much as you can afford as the more you spend the better your bike will feel.Id go for an I-Shock or an Elka

Demon Tweeks do springs in any weight and lenght for 15 quid.:)

The shock on my Rampage blew, I took it apart and refilled it but the quality of the shock is shocking (!). I have seen better shocks on my brothers 1/8th IC race car.

So, I have fitted a 2005 Yamaha R6 shock on to it. I had it lying around as my R6 race bike has a Nitron race unit on.
I had to cut off the bracket on the frame as its 30mm longer, and make new brackets (out of Cro Mo 4130 2mm sheet) and brazed that on. It looks the dogs danglies being so beefy and the resevoir on it, and it feels total quality really well damped and controlled.
Plus, its fully adjustable for compression, rebound and preload and is fully rebuildable.

The spring is a tad softer than the std Rampage one (the leverage ratio is higher), but I will test it and if needs be, order a new spring from Demon Tweeks.

I will post pictures of it when I have finished it completely, its still only half finished.
