Oil Change

1.

Make sure you have everything you need including fresh oil, i used Castrol GP a 10w/40 oil which is good choice for your pit bike, cheap, clean and effective.

2.

Warm up your bike and let it idle for a a couple of minutes, to warm up the oil in the bike so it can exit it quicker, then locate the oil drain bolt, which is underneath the bike, under your engine guard. there should be a circular hole for your tool to fit underneath.

3.

Undo the bolt, which will need a good budge first time, make sure you have a container underneath the bike to catch the old oil, you will be suprised what your engine has been running on, replace oil drain bolt after all oil has been collected.

4.

Replace with your new oil, to do this, take off the oil cap located on the right hand side of the bike and take out the dipstick, also clean your oil bolt as there will be metal shards on there as theres magnet on the bolt which collects all the metal.

Then put fresh oil in, to get the right measurement i put about the same amount in that came out, then you can add more if needed.

5.

And to finish off, warm up your bike for a minute or two, turn engine off, take out dipstick, wipe clean, put back in, pull it back out to get a accurate reading.

And thats it, takes 15 minutes at most. the bike runs 110% better with fresh oil.

Thanks Kern for letting us post it on here ;)
Much appreciated matey ;)

Note: Make sure your pit bike is standing up straight when getting a reading, not on the side stand, it wont be accurate.

So where do you put in the oil? Where the dipstick goes?

Hiyas,
Just a quick note if your bike has a screw in type dipstick.

Make sure the bike is level, ie do not have it on its side stand.

Unscrew the dipstick/filler and wipe with a CLEAN rag.

Put the dipstick back in the hole as you would normally but DO NOT SCREW IT IN...

Pull the dipstick out and you have a correct oil level reading.

Add or remove oil as necessary.

Hope this is of help....im sure some of you are running your bikes with not enough oil in them.

Chris

750 to 800ml (reece) if you still standard oil in it can only bring out 500ml, (coz its poo) so i recomend 750ml - i use that ammount and bike is running real good ;)

HI
Ive used castrol gp since my first oil change and agree with everything said about oil changes so far, very good point about not screwing your dipstick back in to check your oil level, as most people assume it needs to be screwed back to check levels- hence a low oil level.

But my point being ..... on my last oil change i had run out of castrol gp t4 and wanted to go riding, so after a good search in one of my sheds i found a big can of my old jet ski engine oil....... Silkolene pro4 fully synthetic 10w 50, after a good search on the net i confiremed it was suitable for wet clutches and filled her up..............WOW its like having a new gearbox fitted ! my gear changes are so smoother now and the engine runs a bit cooler after a half hour thrash :D
Theres nothign wrong atall with castrols oil, but the silkolene is deffinately a better oil in my humble opinion.
Cheers
Alex
