Although I havent fitted brake pads in a long (cause they dont need replace) I did however have to reset the caliper pistons as the brake pads were binding on the disc making it hot, proberly caused by dirt making the calipers think there further way than they really are when pulling the front brake in.

anyways....

step 1. your average caliper http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb106/Despise01/3f53_1.jpg

undo the 2 Allen-key bolts and take out completely (you may have to push down on the brake pads as you pull the bolts out for them to come out.)

2. Take out the pads. Next step you will need to push/reset the caliper pistons. To do this you will need something to clamp and press them in, I personally use a large G-clamp (being the best tool) or you can use moe-grips. Now place the clamp on and in between both calipers and clamp in till they are flat in.

If you find the caliper is getting in the way of clamping both at the same time try doing 1 at a time, if that fails and its just pushing the other piston up put something in between the 2 calipers and then clamp that.

pictures for illustration only not an actual pitbike caliper but gives you an idea what your looking at aka pushing the caliper pistons in

3. Once done, put the 1st brake pad in and then enter the Allen bolts in, you will have to push down on the pad to align the hole in the pad with the bolt as the bottom of the caliper witch the pads sit on is spring bent metal. Once you have the 1st pad though be sure to push the spring metal at the bottom down and push the Allen bolt through and over the clips (if you have them. This goes for both sides & bolts) just enough to hold so you still have space to enter the other brake pad. Repeat with the next brake pad pushing it down for the Allen bolts to come through, then do them up tight and your done.

4. Put the brake caliper back on the disc before you press the front brake otherwise you will have to start again. And dont forget to pump the brake (aka keep pressing the brake) cause it will be weak (dont want anyone hitting a tree cause they dont have any braking power now do I :D )

Well thats about it, if I missed anything do let me know. Sorry I was too lazy to take my own images.

Hope this tutorial helps:thumbs:
