Have you got the choke leaver in the right place letting more fuel or air into the carb right?

Sounds like jetting, try reading my guide

www.pitbiker.co.uk (http://www.pitbiker.co.uk) In the parts section they have a part (forgive my ignorance!) but it says if your bikes misfiring this could be why, maybe worth checking out?

More than likeley an air leak around where the carb fits to the inlet manifold, or where the manifold fits to the head(engine).
Check all your wiring for good connections especially the HT lead, from the spark plug.
Normally backfireing is caused by air enetering the manifold and causing backfireing, or an over rich setting on the main jet when letting off the throttle, you will get backfireing.
If your bike was running ok and you havent touched any settings then id check my suggestions first(not spending cash).........BUT if you have been fiddling with the carb settings etc, try putting the settings back o how they were and see if that cures it....and then try lewis_#101 suggestions.
hope this helps
Alex
