OK, after messing around with the std Rampage shock and rebuilding it twice, I got fed up and modified the frame so a standard 2005 Yamaha R6 shock would fit in.
I had it as a spare from my R6 race bike build, I wont need it again. Its adjustable for compression, rebound and preload and is a proper shock, filled with Nitrogen and is rebuildable.

To do it, I cut off the top shock mounting bracket in the frame and brazed on a new bracket assembly in a position where the spring would not rub on anything. For the bracket I used 4130 Cro Mo 2mm sheet steel, so it should be strong enough. The swingarm mounting point actually slotted straight in.

It feels really good, the damping feels like a real race bike, compression and rebound seem spot on and its about half way on the clickers so room for tweeking it. It sags about 3" when I sit on it, which doesnt feel too bad.

Not took it out on track yet (too wet aint it) but hopefully soon.

This is a pic of it, ignore the manky looking standard swingarm I will be making a race spec one this winter, yes i know I have no chain tensioner and the slider block is missing. They fell off at the last ride (Rampages for ya).
