Testing IRK with a multimeter

Would someone be kind enough to post a guide to testing an inner rotor kit with a multimeter in simple terms? It would be really useful for people like me who have no experience of these sort of things, especially seeing as the chinese copy IRKs seem to create problems for people regularily.
