the loom/ignition I have is engine only so no feeds to lighting etc.

Now I'm confused, you were on about switching relays, but you're planning on running relays

relay for electrics will be activated by ignition key.
current wiring loom is engine only.

I will basically have 2 looms on my bike, one (current) for the engine/cdi/coil etc...

and another for speedo, lights, horn indicators etc.

I need the second loom's power to be switched on by the ignition key but as the ignition key is connected to the engine only (no battery) so there is no voltage running through the key.

if that made sense to you I am impressed as I have now baffled myself :banghead:

I'd go with what I said originally then, get fused +12v upto the switch and then relay anything that needs it seperatley.

Earth out pin 4 on the CDi from the key and you'll be good to go.

I plan on making a wiring diagram so that off the shelf parts can be used to build a proper loom, but along with the countless other projects I've got on it could take some time.
