YSR50 Engine swap to DT80LC

Hi guys

Just got a Yamaha YSR 50 1987 after a wait of 24 Years.

As I'm not the same size and weight as I was at 16 I'm looking to swap the stock 50 engine out to a DT80LC engine.
Anyone know if this is a straight swap ?
Team Calamari in the USA state the DT 50 engine does.

but need to know if the 80 would be the same .

Sorry for late reply.

It was a YSR50 1987 US import bike, gave £1100 for her.
750 miles on the clock but no speedo cable on her so don't know if she had been raced in the states.
Uncompleted project.
Needed the tank dipped stripped and cleaned, speedo cable, couple of indicators, mirror and chain.
The fairing are after market but was doing a paint job not standard anyway.
Put a chain on her and some petrol and she sounded and moved sweet.

as she need some work on her and also the pain of getting her road reg'd
and time was tight for doing this before the charity ride which I was doing 2 days after by boys 16 birthday with him I ended up giving myself a treat of a
1989 ysr80 Jap import very good survivor condition total standard.
She had a twin pipe exhaust sourced and fitted to her along with a RamAir filter and a up graded spark plug and lead.

So eBay has handed me a bigger project.
I got the RD80LC engine as it was a good upgrade in power as I'm slightly bigger now and also it's hilly here.
but there was a tzr/dt 125 Engine there I couldn't say no to (£200) so have that now sat in my office which (just needs some power valve cover plate and holder) will go into the YSR50 and also get a Suzuki Team Pepsi paint colours.

Just waiting for a bit of time on my hands now.

IIRC, a pit bike engine is a very close fit too, lower mount lines up, top mount needs moving back or forward about 1 inch.
Depends where you want to go with it I guess. A well looked after YX140 will probably be better for road riding than a YZ80 MotoX engine.
If it's only for fun and Sunday blasts, then obvs the MX engine would be the cooler option!
