Issues Starting From Cold
I purchased a bike for my son for Christmas and decided to buy a bike for myself yesterday.
For some reason the bike I got(2nd hand) seems to be a right pig at first starting from cold, I can keep kicking it over and it will fire but not start and eventually it will start but if I touch the throttle it cuts out.
After letting it just idle to warm up it's fine, and if I turn it off it will start back up first kick... So it just seems to be the first initial starting of the bike.
Would I be right in thinking it may be running too rich? I haven't done anything to the bike yet or even checked the plug although I have been told it is a new plug as the PO tried this to see if that was the issue.
Any help and/or advice would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Issues Starting From Cold
Hi,
Thank you for getting back to me. I'll take a look into valve clearances but as for the plug that is new as stated above.
Many thanks,
Rob

Re: Issues Starting From Cold
did you put the new plug in or did the previous owner? you can't really rule out thats its not a new plug or a faulty plug, for the £3 or so it'll cost you i think it is worth it if only to rule it out as a cause.

valve clearance is an easy thing mate, takes 5 minutes. all you need is a 9mm spanner some pliers and feeler gauge.

Re: Issues Starting From Cold
Ok my bad... I think I might have sorted this!
It seems that the choke wasn't going on properly! I was pushing it up but it was actually hitting the air filter and not going on fully
I gave it another shot yesterday and screwed the air/fuel screw right in undone it around 1 and a half turns and then an extra half turn and now seems to fire up fine
Left running for a few minutes and seems to rev fine so I'll check it out again tonight as the engine will be cold again then
Thanks all, simple things! Lol
