125cc, high compression?!!?

Just rebuilt my pit bike engine and put it in the bike last night. Very hard to start sometimes regardless of using the proper technique and bump starting it also was difficult, it would lock up a lot from bump starting in first or second. Now its only a 125 and my old engine was a 110, not that much difference but there is a lot of difference in starting it and its nothing tuned or anything, just a standard ching chong engine.

I adjusted the valves to 4 and 6 thou, but maybe i should go a little more? What do you people think

Re: 125cc, high compression?!!?

leave your valves alone .

check cam timing and flywheel pick up if adjustable.

If you want to bump start it, try 3rd or 4th gear down a hill
