Yep another newbie HI

Just thought i would introduce myself and say hello.

Im Jay, 26 years young from Whiteley, currently own a Yamaha aerox 70cc race tuned scoot (trying to sell it or swap it for a pit bike).

Anyway trying to gather info on sorting a pit bike for work use and back wheel fun while getting about, undecided if i should buy a Masai and mod it or buy a WPB 140 and road legal it (which i think would be better)

having a good look about the forum for inspiration and to see what others have done before i indulge as the scooter HAS to go as i want a pit bike!!

Jay

Re: Yep another newbie HI

Welcome to the forum,

Most people tend to buy a Shineray/Thump road ripper and mod it, making a non road legal bike suitable for the road can be a pain to do properly IE legally

for the record, talk of swapping VIN tags is a no-no on this forum

Cheers for the heads up, i dont do bodge so 100% legal it would have to be regardless.

Im after really a mx style swingarm with upside down forks and supermoto wheel/tyre package not bothered about engine size really for the time being as i could change that in time.

Re: Yep another newbie HI

you can go on ebay and buy a pitbike frame and logbook, then swap all the parts over from a new WPB 140 (or what you want to use) this is completely within the law as long as you notify DVLA of the engine change, new engine numbers and new cylinder capacity.. swapping VIN's is illegal and is classed as a form of ringing.

Cool, sounds like you're doing it the right way.

there's loads of threads on here about the subject and plenty of help around from those that have done it, there is also alot of experience on here for modifications, from the mild to the wild, hope you've got deep pockets

Re: Yep another newbie HI

Husky ive had a scout about on ebay and not turned up much on frames with v5 for pit bikes (am i looking in the right place).

Im confident enough to transfer everything over to a new frame, electrics arent a problem im good happy enough to make a loom if needed.

Rather fancy the WPB 125 or 140 if i can find another frame with a v5 i can do the rest and make it 100% legal with the useful and knowledge from everyone on here.
