VIN plates

Right I know this has possibly been covered so apologies, I have a frame at home that I shot blast a while ago when I did it I took the serial numbers and I'd plate off the bike to save damage but I only gone and lost it, how will I stand now with making the frame road legal? Will the dvla supply a new VIN number when I get it registered?

Re: VIN plates

I doubt it is possible for a currently unregistered bike. If it was currently road legal you may get permission to restamp it...very specialist area though.

Re: VIN plates

What? The frame without a vin plate?

It wont get a q plate, cos it wont get any plate.

Q plates are usually given out when its hard to prove the age or it was previously stolen and needed a new reg.

But the frame number is the only thing to id a bike before its registered, so you cant even begin to register it without one.

The vin is on the log book
Take it to engravers an get them to engrave the number on a small plate an Expoxy glue it to your frame after it's painted
