Re: What's my new road legal pit bike worth?

You lot make me feel like sticking it on sale for £500 just to see how quick it sells.

63 plate and frame along with V5 is worth £200 all day long

New engine would fetch £150 easily

So that's eh? oh yes £350

Then there is 12" road legal wheels and tyres, calipers and some electrics

£50 no sweat.

So parts alone would realise £400 easily

Any so called reliability issues are just plain lack of care and servicing on the part of owners who think they can jump on a bike, thrash it to death without even changing the original oil

£200 is a joke

Makes you wonder if you really believe you can get anything with a 63 plate on it for £200.

Based on the above, maybe it should be an Akuma and all this Akuma trashing is just to promote WPB and Stomp

Live and let live

Re: What's my new road legal pit bike worth?

I wouldn't go as far as to say that Akuma's breaking is due to user error. Go buy a Pitster Pro and an Akuma Assassin, service them both regularly, take them to a track and see which one snaps in half first.

They're just cheap bikes bud, plain and simple. I wouldn't say you'd get anywhere close to £200 for the frame with V5, people may pay that for a CRF70 road reg'd frame, but not an Akuma tinfoil frame. Sorry if it bursts your bubble to say it, but you'll be lucky to get £300 for it on Gumtree/eBay from someone who doesn't know bikes, and on here where most of the guys are experienced in pretty much all sorts of pit bikes, you'll be lucky to give it away.

And the argument you made about the bike being worth a lot because it's a 63 plate doesn't really work. I can buy a 63 plate Korean shitty car for £4000, but that doesn't mean it's worth the same as a 63 plate Merc

Do the same, take them on the road, ride them through London streets and on the motorway and see who gets nicked first.

Keep off the tracks with a road bike

Cannot get a 1998 or higher CRF70 road reg frame for £200, let alone a 63 plate.

"And the argument you made about the bike being worth a lot because it's a 63 plate"

Never said "a lot" did I? £300 for a road reg 63 plate is not the same as what you would get for a CRF70 63 plate is it?

"doesn't really work. I can buy a 63 plate Korean car for £4000, but that doesn't mean it's worth the same as a 63 plate Merc"

You are comparing old chalk with new fresh cheese, doesn't work does it

Like I said, not trying to burst your bubble, but it won't fetch the money you are hoping. Just ride and have fun with it.

Not sure I fully follow the 'old chalk/new cheese' thing... Pitster Pro-new cheese. Akuma-Old chalk.

My mate bought a CRF70 Stomp road reg'd frame for £225 just over a month ago.

I still say don't sell it, you'll only be upset with the money you get, so just use it and have fun

The most sensible advice I've had, thanks.

chalk cheese analogy is simply highlighting that comparing two fully
road vehicles at opposite ends of the vale spectrum is not the same as comparing a road bike with an off road bike. It is not like comparing Gorau Glas cheese at £45 per kg with asda smartprice mild at £4.75 per kg, they are both cheese.

Whereas comparing a piece cheese to a piece of chalk is not the same comparison, is it?

So using the mercedes / hyundai comparison is not useful is it?
