Pedal powered Quad/ATV project

Where to start...

well long story short, I decided I would like to build a "pedal powered ATV/Quad" for adults as a clean fun project.

Im posting on here to collect ideas, peoples thoughts and possibly someone that would like to take the project ahead on my behalf. I say this because atm I dont have the materials or access to a welder until summer.

Heres the idea, it starts something like this

This is the kettquad by kettler (kids only and at £500!! anyway).

The aim is to make this adult size with gears, optional plastic or air filled rubber tyres, a traditional kettler handbrake bar jam and the finish project being ridden in a bmx stance with a small seat for short rest-bites ( I think thats all of it ), a bike with 4 wheels if you like.

To be a cross between the kettquad and this:

hence the optional wheel types.
Back to the kettler picture. The handle bars would need to be extended and the pedals would need to be remapped but otherwise I think you can imagine the end product. I would also like to add a mountain bike 24 speed gear set selection into it to make it easier to pedal too.

Another img that comes to mind is the middle bottom frame of a mountain bike, that be the pedals with gears and the 24 speed gear set mounted into the middle of the kettler and all fixed to drive the 2 wheels at the rear. Note: I wouldnt really do this, as it would be too heavy, its just how im imagining it blurring the ideas together.

thoughts please

Re: Pedal powered Quad/ATV project

seems some what pointless going for the 4 wheel set up, drift trike with some kind of pedal power would be better. way less engineering and one less tyre to buy
