Hello all,

I've been looking to get a mini moto dirt bike for my son (12 years old) to ride up Halnaker. Please could anyone tell me on which Sunday's he can ride there, any restrictions on bikes and clothing and fee's etc.

I haven't bought him a bike yet so if anyone knows where we can get a suitable bike from (new or pre-loved) please let me know. He has riden rev 'n' go before.

Thanks in advance....

Re: New member

Best bet would to look on ebay,

decent boots such as fox, aplinestars and wulfsport all can be found around £50-100.(or as cheap as £20 for sencond hand).

Good helmet such as a HJC,check shark ratings and make sure it has BSAU stamp.

Body armour is also fairly cheap on ebay, good second hand units can be found fairly cheap aswell.

then knee pads, elbow pads,gloves,jersey/bottoms(or a old thick coat but would recommend bottoms as pit bike exhaust are close to the leg area and run VERY hot.)

as for halkaner,i dont have the foggiest on price and restrictions.

bike:if your on a budget theres plenty of good looked after bikes on ebay, gumtree.something such as a 125 fully clutch should do him as clutch is easy to pick up,especailly at that age.

or WPB(welsh pit bikes) do good priced beginner bikes with a variety of sizes and prices, and other companys such as fun bikes,mini-mx.

Ghostbikes (banner at the top of the page) do very good quality gear at reasonable prices with excellent aftersales so check them out.
