Pmt tyres

I have just fitted new pmt soft slicks to my m2r 140 and had problems warming them up at stretton the other day. Running them at 18 psi they just would not grip. Track was dry and quite warm.
Any one else had this problem?

Re: Pmt tyres

R slicks or S slicks?

What was the air temp roughly?

Was it damp?

Cloudy?

18psi hot or cold?

When you say they wouldn't grip, can you explain what you mean exactly - front judder, front slides, rear?

New to you, or brand new tyres?

Re: Pmt tyres

They are the s slick, 18psi cold dry sunny day around 12c, rear tyre would slide very easily on exit of corners as soon as I tapped the power on. Had no trouble with front at all. Suspension is set up correctly. Wondering if it could be a duff tyre!

Re: Pmt tyres

When I raced in British fab championship I used to run r compound 18psi hot as tyre pressure will increase around 2psi+ maybe the issue is with geometry or suspension rather than tyres ! Best performance upgrade is suspension over any engine mod

Without looking at the suspension I am limited to what info I can give but would suggest looking into the dark art of suspension set up will help improve your riding ten fold ! Just on what you said about previous and current tyres there is a good chance that the maxis tyres have a stronger carcas and different compound etc .
Pmt tyres have a lot softer carcas and totally different characteristics to a road approved tyre. I suggest basic sus set up I.e setting sags and starting fresh with compression and rebound starting in middle clickers on both then try going totally opposite ways this will give basic understanding on how your bike acts making radical adjustments this will point you in a decent set up direction ! Any other dude just message I'll help out as much as I can !
