Re: whilton mill trackday 31/5/2010 onboard tzr monkey

ive just got to say im in love with the tzr monkey, its a real animal and was able to make up 3/4 bike lengths on each straight over well tuned yx engines (150s and 160s). i hit an indicated 83mph!!!!!!!! on a go kart track

the video really doesnt do the bike justice to how fast it actually is. I did struggle with it in the corners however on my second go out i was getting both knees down
it is a road going monkey at the end of the day, and it went extremely well on track.
Also duncan is a top guy, and now im really considering making a tzr powered pitbike, with a full from scratch frame etc.
loved it!!

Re: whilton mill trackday 31/5/2010 onboard tzr monkey

What will said

The look on your face when you came in after first session said it all mate i knew you would be building one after that with your skills i would love to see the build but def use the later tzr engine you can have elec start too
wish we filmed the second session you were much faster to the point you kept slowing to let them past so you could overtake again

my monkey did impress me it handled the day very well

bit undecided about what to do with it tbh i think it would be best to leave it as a road bike and maybe sort the pipe out and sort better forks, but it really does ride nice as it is btw got 1/2 turn on the headstock nut it was loose not too bad considering i fitted new bearings when i fitted the pitbike front forks and thats the first time its needed adjusting even after a 1000 road miles, may hold judgement on the forks til i ride it again would not be surprised if the nervous front end on track was actually that headstock needing adjusting.
really enjoyed the trackday though will be deffo up for doing some more on the monkey i still fancy a MX pit though so i will have a bike for any surface then must buy new leathers sure they have shrunk

Re: whilton mill trackday 31/5/2010 onboard tzr monkey

Sounds like a good idea mate, if you do consider an mx pit bike i have a brand new unused set of wheels and tyres for off road ! Also it would be good to see you on the monkey at another track day if you get some new leathers get some with sliders so you can get your knee down, toms proved you can do it All in all you got an awesome bike mate, i was optimistic at the start thinking its a monkey bike it cant be any good but you impressed me the minute i saw it on track, when you left me on the straights !!

Re: whilton mill trackday 31/5/2010 onboard tzr monkey

thanks will
hope to do one more trackday this year but also i have to concentrate on finishing my kitcar and until thats on the road and trackday ready the monkey will have to wait.
but hopefully i will be able to start a few upgrades towards the end of the year would like new forks, seat, exhaust basicly sort out the handling as it has plenty enough power.

anyone know if my current hubs/wheels,brakes will fit onto a set of upside down pitbike forks?
