Honda CT70 Trail engine swap

Hello, I've got a 1972 4 speed CT70 Trail which I plan on using in a few long distance trials this year (for kicks) before doing it up like a tarts handbag next year, the engine runs fine but seeing the cheap prices of Lifan and other copy engine got me thinking, will there be a performance gain using one of these engine over the standard healthy one slready fitted or should I just save my dosh?

save your money, nothing will be as reliable as a honda. if you want a bit more pep in the engine sort a new top engine something like a takegawa r stage 88 kit. then it will still be reliable but much faster

the difference in quality is just crazy, the chinese engines are fine, they're popular and better than they used to be but for the same price as say a brand new yx160 you could bore up your engine and put a quality head and carb on it and it will be pretty fast and bomb proof
