Re: 2014 Supermoto goodness

KATOOM!

I chopped the front mounts of, and the engine swings down about another 5mm. BOOO!

But when my welder arrives, I will put them back on.

Little update:

Didnt get a massive amount done today as I had to put two new sills on a KA, and fit a new exhaust system on a Golf.
BUT, I did get a few bits done, which have allowed the carb to fit now, and given plenty of room for an Air-box.

Before I started:

The with the shock re-located, the carb fitted straight on.
Mocked up the exhaust. Had to chop the bracket off, and cut the stinger pipe down. but it goes on.
The pipe does swing under the bike more, but I lent my welder out ages ago, and need to get it back, so have not had chance to make any brackets up for it.

Looooooads of room!

Nothing is done up tight, so it all looks a little twisted. :P

Cracking job Ben. No doubts you'd get it sorted.

(This should turn out better than the TZ-KLX) Loved that.

Re: 2014 Supermoto goodness

What fairing/plastics, seat and tank you gonna run? Pit or them magolutti (or whatever it is) ones?

Does relocating the shock not alter the geometry and forces on the shock? I genuinly dont know, just curious

Re: 2014 Supermoto goodness

I think standing the shock more upright (90 degrees to the swing arm), makes it 'stiffer'. So essentially you can run a lighter spring, for the same effect.

Undecided on plastics/seat yet.
I need to get my hands on some cheap tanks and go from there. Not too keen on the idea of running a pit bike tank, I had awful trouble with my TZR pit bike, constantly running out of of petrol.

Re: 2014 Supermoto goodness? make it

What about a crf150 plastics tank? Make it like a mini rep of the cr500 in the crf450 frame

Re: 2014 Supermoto goodness

150 has a spine frame, not a cradle. doubt it'd work.
