Post Pit Bike Trailer Build

Day 1

searched for trailers online, came across one on ebay for £40, phoned the guy up turned out only 20miles from home, picked her up and this is what she looked like, worn out but still strong. vauxhall corsa hubs and wheels.

Day 2

whole trailer needed wiring brushing and sanding down to see the damage which turned out to be alright.
given a coat of anti corrosion paint to stop any further rusting.

Day 3

forgot to take pics but cut the trailer down to a nicer size as before it was far to wide. after that it was all rewelded and then given 2 coats of hammerite

later on after the paint dried, i put the wheels back on to see how much needed to be cut off from the axle.
hopefully get round to doing this tomorrow

Hi mate looks good so far but the axle needs to be 60/40 60% at the front and 40% at the back

Look it up mate. There needs to be more weight at the front so it pushes down on the tow bar. I just finished mine.

ahh yeh i see what you mean, ill have a look 2moz too dark now, but surely the weight of two bikes would be enough to force it down

On bigger trailers, the axle is supposed to be slightly further to the back of the loading bed than the middle really.

However, you can compensate when you load it.

It wants to be slightly hitch-heavy. 60:40 is a good ratio.

Re: Pit Bike Trailer Build

get some cheap alloys and spray em up for it

axle looks fine as the hitch is quite far from the bed front.
