rear wheel

Iv heard on here its best to have a rim lock on the back wheel. My rim doesn't have a second hole in for the rim lock to go in. Could I just drill a hole or would I need a new wheel that already has one ? Also does anyone no if maxxi tyres are any good on a pitbike or is michelin better? Cheers

Re: rear wheel

To get the best grip from the tire, it needs to be able to squish and spread a little.
You need to lower the pressure to achieve this, but without a rim-lock the tire will just spin on the rim and rip the tube out.

If you just pump the tire up hard, you'l have less grip and you'll wear out the tire more quickly.

Re: rear wheel

Or thanks glad you said that a am going to order my new tyres tomorrow so will make sure to fit rim locks. itll be best to have them front and back then if u say it slips. And my last innertube popped and the valve totally ripped off so that must of been of the innertube sliding .

Re: rear wheel

Yeah that would of been because of no rim lock. Just drill a hole opposite valve and fit, easy.
