Stomp 125 repair + ride

I recently bought a Stomp 125 non-runner. I got it going and took it for a blast up and down some lanes.

I plan to take it to a track soon.

Haha really good mate.

Hope it paid off buying a non runner and fixing it, I hope it hasn't cost you much and fair play some on here wouldn't enven know how to take a petrol tank off. (I know its all learning)

Really good video and editing.

Cheers mate!

I spent £250 on the bike, which I think was a bit much given it's condition.

I spent nearly £60 on various bits (kick start, levers, air filter, cdi box).

The scariest part was when I went to adjust valve clearances - the lock nut on the adjuster for the inlet valve was completely missing, and the adjuster had backed itself all the way out of the threads. The only reason the adjuster hadn't fallen out was the cap was in the way. It had about 5mm of valve clearance so I don't imagine it was making a lot of power by the time the cdi gave in.

It's still not very quick, but I don't know what you can expect of these bikes. I'm going to try it with the air filter off in case it's been set up to run without one.

Re: Stomp 125 repair + ride

No I didn't! And I'm worried it's still rattling around inside...

I'm going to change the oil one of these days and I'll try and fish around inside with a magnet. I'm hoping the previous owner tried to adjust the valve clearances, but took the nut off all the way and lost it in his shed.

EDIT: There's plenty of evidence it's been running for a while with the nut missing. The threads were pretty choudered up, and there was a lot of damage to the inside of the cap. If it looked like it had only just gone missing, I would have looked harder before starting it up.

Re: Stomp 125 repair + ride

I stuck a magnet inside a rubber glove and shoved it up the sump plug hole. Wiggled it around a bit, then pulled it out and the nut was stuck to the end.

Amazing that it didn't cause any damage, it must have fallen down where the cam chain runs and just lodged itself in the sump somewhere.
