YX140 Oil Leak

Hi guys,

First post here

I fitted a brand new YX140 last week, and today was its 2nd run. Was out for around 30 mins and felt the engine was getting hot against my leg.
Had a look down and could see oil dripping out from the bottom bolt by the front sprocket. Also looks like its coming from the bolt hole to the right?

When i shut it down, you could hear it whistling from where ita leaking like the oil was boiling!

Is this just a badly sealed gasket, or something more serious?

Take that casing off in the picture, you'll probably find that a rubber bung has come out

Thanks - I'll check tomorrow.

Would this cause it to run too hot?

Last time I ran it, this wasnt happening and the temp was fine...mind you, I also adjusted the carb to improve the idle, which I have since found might be the air/fuel setting lol need to confirm though!

Re: YX140 Oil Leak

i had this on my old 140 engine, lucky the bung was still there, i just pushed the bung back in and it never happened again. that gasket in the pic doesn't actually hold and oil in or anything.

Re: YX140 Oil Leak

Had the cover off today and it was exactly what you guys said...the bung had come loose on 1 side. Popped it back in nice and tight.

Would this explain it running hot? It would suggest so, as air intake anywhere other than the carb would cause it to run lean?

Check to make sure the stator seal hasn't failed oil will run to its lowest points or output shaft seal both easy to do
