Help asap!!!!!!!!!!!1

My mates demon 110 revs its tits off when you start it up!
It only starts on choke and then when you take choke off it cuts out.?

Before it died like this it developed a habbit of only being ridable with choke on and when you took it off it wud splutter and cut out?

So why does it rev like hell on start up?????

hmmm. Bit dimwitted. Why nt fix the problem? Reving like that is very commonly a sign of lean running, yes it could be the throttle cable but if it needs choke it almost certainly is lean. Two things, check for air leaks around the manifold- run the bike and spray starter fluid/deodourant around the carb and listen for rpm changes. Second clean the carb, in particular the pilot jet. Let us know how it goes

i also found that when i checked the sp it was black, i think this is running rich so to lean it up a bit which way do i turn the mixture screw? inward or outward??

your lean on pilot but rich higher up. Try lowering the needle by moving the clip up one slot, test very well after doing this. The mixture screw only controls idle circuit, so only use it to fine tune closed throttle problems. Hav a read, may help http://www.pitbikeclub.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17593

Re: Help asap!!!!!!!!!!!1

On second thought, you've been running with the choke on, this would mess up plug readings. Do the leak test and carb clean before any jeting changes.
