Steer clear of eBay seller BETTERTHEDEAL

Just a word of warning on this seller:

I ordered some shocks on 17/06/10, they hadn't turned up after 2 weeks (they are Northern Ireland based) so I emailed them, got no reply.

Eventually I got fed up waiting and opened a dispute with eBay, to which they eventually responded saying they had lost the order.

After some more messing about they sent me some shocks, not the ones I'd ordered, so I tried emailing them - no reply, closed the non delivery case and opened a "item doesn't match description" case.

To which they ignored for over a week, I tried emailing eBay, they didn't respond, so I rang eBay to get on their case, I was told I needed to return the shocks at my own cost (£12-15) and then I'd get a refund.

I explained that the seller hadn't responded to any comms and I didn't want to be even more money out of pocket - eBay says "Tough" basically

So I've kept the shocks, left some sarcastic feedback and marked them down on the detailed seller ratings (the sellers get hammered if this happens)

I then emailed the seller saying they were a bunch of cowboys, rubbish service etc etc and that I'd be sharing my experience of them on some forums, so here it is.

BETTERTHEDEAL = EPICTHEFAIL

Re: Steer clear of eBay seller BETTERTHEDEAL

am getting very wary of bike stuff on ebay i bought plastics from dirtbikebreaker said they where crf50 based plastics the side panels and mudgaurds where fine but the rear fenders wouldnt fit and where totally the wrong shape for the crf graphics i bought took them to 3 local dealers and sized them against all my mates and the we came to the same conclusion everytime they where not crf50 rear panels yet the seller said we where all wrong they where the correct plastics as he had never had any compliants before and basically told me to get lost he wasnt gonna do anything about it i tied escallating with ebay but the fact the panel cracked when trying to fit these so called correct panels i was told i didnt have a leg to stand on as i had damaged them so wont be using him again
cheers for the heads up tho m8 another dodgy seller to add to the list

Re: Steer clear of eBay seller BETTERTHEDEAL

I found a picture of the seller on a bike built out of his own parts.

Sorry to hear that DervDub, Communication would make things so much easier with sellers, If they atleast let you know where you stood they could keep a good customer service !

I know people make mistakes, that's life, but to be compltely ignored just winds people up.

I spend a fair amount on eBay and it's usually straight forward, people like these just remind you to be on your guard...

I've ended up using the shocks on another project, so I was relatively lucky, but I think it sucks how you have to pay for return shipping.

Re: Steer clear of eBay seller BETTERTHEDEAL

That's the problem with eBay... The sellers have no retail experience what so ever and are usually immature teenagers sat at home refusing to give the money back they spent at the cinema last night.

They never seem to know anything about the product - Just a draft of information that the wholesaler gave to them... That's why if possible I always go to a motorbike specialist shop

LOL, I know what you're saying there, betterthedeal are a specialised motorbike spares place though - apparently

I research all my purchases before buying, I take the spec sheets with a pinch of salt, I spent ages selecting the shocks for exactly the right ones which was a bit infuriating to be sent the wrong ones after over 3 weeks.
