Lifan oil cooler 150cc pitbike engine..Thoughts??

I Have just purchased a 150cc lifan pitbike engine its an 2010 model and its the one with the oil filter etc.Is there any common faults with this engine and how long do they last etc etc

after about 10 rides on mine the piston rings and valve stem seals went and then around 10 rides after i got that sorted 3rd gear went. but they are a fast engine with good lowe end grunt

cheers mate bit of bad luck then it has a inner rotor kit fitted would this make the bike rev to much or shall change it back.

I know of two 150's tuned to fook and thrashed regulary with no issues at all I also know of many that threw their cranks even in standard trim

I've got 70% of a bottom end which came from toms bike.so if you want it for spares or need any parts in the future let me know.don't want much for it.


Good clutch and crank.good engines but be carful as the kickstart gears are another problem.

do you think £130 was a fair price to pay for the engine it comes with oil cooler thorrtle carb etc

Thats a fair price, they make good midrange power so short shift the gears & don't rev it too the moon too much

Ours came with a VM24 carb and was great low-mid, a VM26 let it pull further up the revs, gives it a wider range of power which also made the gears more usable.(there's quite a big spacing in the ratios) Not had any probs with ours.
