Have you tried adjusting the cable at both ends. Clutch end and handlebar end. It seems to me your cable is too slack and not disengaging the clutch enough. Can tighten it to the max so it is slipping even when the lever is not pulled, then put it in 4th gear and loosen the cable (while he engine is off) until pushing the bike forward turns the engine. Once this is achieved start the bike (in neutral) put it in 4th give it a few revs (not too many) and it should stall when you release he clutch lever. If it carries on running cable (with the engine off) and test again, until it stalls in 4th. You need a small bit of play in the clutch lever. (tiny bit). Too much play in the lever clucth will not work, not enough play then it may slip all the time and wear out your plates.
