Go-Ped Restoration/Build

I bought a Go-Ped the other day for £30... and as you will know, its been pretty battered...

It was run without an air filter, so now it has a deep score up the bore where something has gone through the carb and into the engine

The piston rings are nackered, and also, the mount on the engine which bolts to the frame is completely trashed.. They used to have the engine held on with 2 bolts, so when you pull start it, the engine would almost lift off the frame.. and as you can tell again, all the bolts and holes for the bolts are nackered.. they cant really be classed as holes no more, as they are odd shapes, and one hole has part of the bolt stuck in it where is has snapped off...

Front brake caliper broke, so need a new one of those... Doesnt have a rear brake, so will have to buy the complete set

All the gasket have been replaced with some badly cut cardboard knock ups

Throttle cable was only hanging on by about 1 strand

Handle bars where loose, plastics where hanging off...

Well, you get the point

I only really bought it for a bit of fun, to just thrash about every where

-----------------------------------------------

Didn't get any pictures of the scooter when I first got it home, but I stripped it down and gave the frame and all the parts a quick clean

Engine and a few other bits

This is the engine without the cylinder head or pull start

This is the cylinder head

And the damage to the bore

This is what is left of the air filter

and this is it without any engine

Got a new engine on its way, new air filter system and some cables to come

Couldn't get the right cylinder head for the old engine, so I ordered a brand new engine for £40.. Was posted yesterday night and got it the next morning at about 8:00am

The standard exhaust was still on the new engine, so it had to be changed

Wired up the kill switch, and just about to put the new engine in

Got the new engine in, runs as sweet as a nut

The exhaust mount snapped on the exhaust after a few goes, so got that welded up. Not bad for my dads first go at welding

A pic of my cluttered garage, now with the scooter fitting in
