Watford Gap services southbound - broken down
In a similar situation to Swifty was the other month. My van lost loads of power on the M1 coming home. Managed to limp it to the services where it conked out conveniently in a parking space outside the travelodge.
Had a nose under the bonnet. Suspect injector seal or derv pipe as there is diesel everywhere!
Ive contacted the AA and its gonna be hours before a patrol can get to me.
Luckily I have my sleeping bags in the back. Van is nicely kitted out with carpet so ive cotched up in the back until further notice.
Couldnt of picked a worse night to break down. Its drastically snowing outside... bloody french cars!

Been here a couple of hours now. Hmph.
Had another look under the bonnet. Think its a shagged fuel pump. Pricey fix if it is!

Kent is where I was heading. I doubt its much more than -4 here. Snow is falling thick on the van. Im in the back. Freezing despite being in two sleeping bags. Booo.
Patrol should be here in a bit anyway. Its been 2 hours.

Re: Watford Gap services southbound - broken down
Well... the recovery truck was on its way has broken down...
Another has set off but will be an hour.
And just on the offchance I asked what happens if they cant mend it. And they said they will tow me to the nearest local garage... unreal....
So while waiting ive had another look under the bonnet and diagnosed the problem myself.
Its a snappd high pressure steel fuel pipe from the pump tp injector number 2. Only option now is to set up here for the night and ring the local renault dealer tomorrow. They should deliver the part on a cash ticket. If not I will have to ring a taxi to collect the part and pay for it over the phone.
Fuming... £10 part has caused all of this...
