WPB 160 Inner Rotor Kit

The standard flywheel came off the other day so while it is off we are looking at fitting an IRK. I have fitted one of these on a Ghost 125 but not sure about the 3rd Gen YX 160, does anyone know if you can just fit the IRK or do you need to alter anything on the clutch side of the crank to balance the weight out? I've heard that once the flywheel has come off, they keep coming off so options are lighter flywheel - less stress or cheaper option of loctite ????? Don't want to bodge though.

Before you fit a new flywheel/rotor, get a new crank nut.
DONT buy one from the Internet, or a pit bike website, take the nut you have to a local fasteners, and get a good quality nut / stiff-nut.
Something that wont come loose easily.

Not too sure on the Gen3 engines, I've got a YX160, not sure which style it is, it's got a 16mm kick start shaft, and is fitted with an outer-rotor kit.

Use loctite thread lock and torque the nut to 45nm. some engines have a washer with grooves. the grooves must face the grooves on the nut. if you tighten the washer with the grooves facing the flywheel the flywheel will come loose in a few mins/secs.
Ive never had a flywheel come loose after torquing them to 45nm without thread lock. add some thread lock if you havent got the grooved washer and nut. if you do have the grooved nut and washer make sure they are not worn damaged.

IRK on a yx160 isn´t really a good idea, power-and reliabilitywise...but on the other hand what do I know?

OK, Thanks for the advice lads, going to avoid the IRK then. Will nip into the allthreads warehouse tomorrow and get a decent flywheel nut and loctite it.

Just make sure to torque the nut to the correct value. add a drop of loctite and it wont be falling off again
