Re: Suspension Setup Guide

Do you set free sag and rider sag the same or just set up the rider sag and the free sag is correct? I've got a new Dnm shock I want to put on tomorrow but I know how to set up rider sag just not free sag

Re: Suspension Setup Guide

Set the rider sag, then by measuring the free sag you'll know whether the spring is too soft or hard.

This doesn't really work well on a pit though, just set the rider sag and adjust from there to find what's best.

Re: Suspension Setup Guide

I used to aim for 5mm to 10mm static sag and work towards 35mm to 45mm rider sag depending on track ! But I rode sm so couldn't comment on mx
I also used to change springs to suit diff tracks to maintain a certain ride hight. So IMO suspension is the most important thing to set not just for quick lap times but for rider safety !!! Learn your stuff then your riding will be even more enjoyable

Loosen the preload until the spring is totally loose and measure the length of it .
Once you have that measurement tighten spring 5 to 10mm shorter than the unsprung measurement and that should give you a good base line to work from

Where can you get C spanners that fit These? I have to keep using a bench vice and a huge plumbers type wrench..... it works just fine but I hate scratching the ring nuts.
