Supermoto Mini build 140

Thought I'd slap together a little build thread as I've just bought a big list of parts. (Jheez! Spent a fortune...)

Sp the spec of my bike, general run down is going to be:

MonsterMoto Mk1 CRF50 sized frame
Genuine Thumpstar 120 A-frame Swinger
Early SDG upside forks, shortened by 50mm
Suzuki AP50 wheels, converted to run twin discs up front, and sprocket on the rear.
TerraMoto 125 Kick in gear engine, retro-fitted with a 140 top end.
8" rise Diamondback Cro-Mo Bars

Moving on to the bits I've just bought.
I've bought a 250mm DMN shock fitted with a 350lb spring.
Should have a nice stiff back end for smoto, and keeping the same geometry as my old Fiddy as that was on a 250mm shock and Thump swinger.

Few pics of what I have so far:

Plastics:

The Motor;
YX140 top end, Z40 Cam, VM24 Carb and flowed inlet

The Frame/swinger:

The wheels, which are off to be shot blasted asap, then painted, possibly flat gold:

And the whip is now fitted with a tow-bar to drag the trailer around with the bikes on!

On a side note, I towed my trailer to work with my Tool boxes on when I started at the new plate a couple of weeks ago.
Was on the 249, And out-dragged a few half decent motors. Was great fun!

Re: Supermoto Mini build 140

Given the 1" longer forks on my SM mini, I'll be aiming for the same set up as this:

Just on 10" SM wheels, rather than 10/12 MX wheels. 12" front being 1" taller than a 10" front, which makes up the additional 25mm I have on my new forks. Keeping the geo the same.

Re: Supermoto Mini build 140

The Clio is on a standard 1.2 rear beam, so it doesnt have a wide enough track for the wheels to touch the arches.
Beleive it or not, it's sitting on standard Williams rear shocks, and the rear beam is set to the factory spec of a valver / Williams.
It's quite stiff so the trailer doesnt really pull the back end down much.
Plus, I know how to load a trailer properly, so it shouldnt affect the right height of a car anyway.

The bike is gonna be cool when it's done. Wont be much cop at Whilton, but should be a little warrior around Caxton.

Re: Supermoto Mini build 140

Been a week since I last managed to get up to the garage. Rox has me on a ball and chain at the moment.

Anyway, spent a few hours in the garage today, unfortunately didnt get a great deal of time on the bikes because I spent a lot of it getting the pistons and rods out of my F7R engine ready to get the block honed and painted up.

So as for the bikes. The things I did do was basically just finish off all the little un-finished bits, like fit all the correct size bolts, and drill out the holes in the frame to the right sizes. Example is the rear shock. The shocks it's self has a 12mm bottom eyelet, and a 10mm top eyelet.
My frame and swinger has an 8mm top mount hole, and a 10mm bottom.
While I was doing the swinger, relocated the mount anyway. Similar set up to the Stomp ACE now, with multiple mounting holes for different ride heights.

I also changed the sump plate over on Rox's bike for one which makes the bike sit level when it's on a stand, as the last one was a cheap steel thing. New one is a chunky ally one.

Other than that, I'll let the pics do the talking. Not got the wheels back yet as Gaz's shot blaster has been getting serviced.

My Whip:

Rox's absolute weapon! (Rapid bike)

My rear shock. (Yes, the frame is minging)

And the 7R

Rox's has a set of 'Tapers on it, and mines running DiamondBack BMX bars.
