Stomp KZ Build log

After picking the bike up from Keith here on PBC, I've started to do the conversion over to Supermoto.
I'm in two minds weather to go the full hog, and fit rear-sets, Super stiff suspension, and massive brakes, to make an all out supermoto.
Or just go moderately supermoto, So I can switch between SM and MX.
Not sure yet.

Either way, The bike started out like so:

Fairly obvious, the rear shock is collapsed. From what I've read, they're common for this.
So first things first, I went out, to find a replacement shocker. Picked up a nice ZX9 (I think) rear shock at an auto jumble.
It met all the dimensions, and fitted up nicely with a few small modifications.
Was a little under-sprung, but I've recently machined a 1/2" spacer to pre-load it, and it seems good now!

Me Grandad milling down the mountings to 20mm.

And the new spring colour.

This evening, I've gone about stripping the bike down, as the next big thing is to powder coat the frame blue.

I'm ditching the 140 engine out of it, and fitting the YX160 lump which is currently fitted in my Demon X.

My aim is to have a finished product which resembles my old TZR pitty. I want something which will also look good next to my YZF450 on the trailer or in my garage.

I've got a Sava MC31 front tyre, and a Dunlop TT92 rear tyre on their way.
Also I've fitted a massive Brembo twin pot to the fork legs, just waiting on my 220mm disk.

On the hunt for a set of spoked 12" supermoto wheels. Currently waiting on a reply from a couple of forum sponsors. Dont really want Mags, think they're a bit 2010 to be honest. Plus running spoked SM wheels means I can run on proper supermoto tracks which also have off road / jump sections, without the worry of cracking an alloy. Only down side is I'll have to run tubes.

Will keep you updated on the build.

Re: Stomp KZ Build log

I was gonna chuck the 140 back in the Demon X. It's like new, the engine has had probably an hours use, if that. No marks on the engine cases or anything. Totally immaculate. Keith bought the KZ and his son rode it around his garden a few times.

Dunno if it would be wise to Part X it for a 125 as Roxanne will be riding the Demon, and the 140 might be a bit of a hand full for her.
Will have to see I guess.
