hi all. i have a `125cc pitbike. i have this problem where when driveing in 3rd the slightist bit of power it jumps and clangs slips back in then does the same, at first i thought it was sprokets. changed front and back and a new chain. still dident cure this. all other gears work fine there is no problem selecting the gears just this 3rd gear problem anyway long storey short. i sent engine to near bye bike man. he stripped it down and said it was the shifter forks. he replaced these i put engine back in bike today and still same problem. fine in 1st full power into second no probs into 3rd then jumps around so shift in to fourth fine also can use engine breaking in 3rd just jumps under power. please does anyone have any idea as to what it could be .... pretty mad 150 quid out of pocket and still not fixxed !! thanks for your time

most people if they are splitting the cases tend to do the lot, selector fork, shift drum etc and replace the gear cluster if it needs it.

thats what i have read. the guy just said shifter forks where badley worn he also put new rings in but i dont belive that would have a effect. the engine went in for the 3 rd gear issue. only good thing is it has loads of compresion now but gear is still same guess he was trying to cut cost/corners. iam going to speak to him tomorow to see what he says. what eles is there to replace other then shifter forks. he said it dident need new gearbox as cogs looked fine... could it be shift drum then ? it shifts alot better than it did can find neutral alot easyer now.

i spoke to guy he said he was gunna put a new gear shift rod in. i thought that it only infunces gear shifting... thats not my problem it stays in 3rd just jumps in and out of 3rd whilst reving it

the guy is now saying it needs new crank cases as the bearing our worn ? causeing the main shaft and lay shaft to pull aprt under power. is this true i thought if this was the case it would do it in other gears rather then just third. any help would be grateful for thanks

sounds like he's having you pants down, is there any evidence that he's actually split the cases?
