demon x xlr160 2012

thanks for all the help choosing a new pitbike ppl
have ordered a 2012 xlr 160 any help in running the bike in? how long for? what revs? oil change?

will be selling my december 2010 demon x 110 if any1 is interested just had brand new michellin rear tyre new mikuni vm22 carb new grips new clutch and brake lever new throttle and cable new clutch lever new chain and sprockets, the bike is like brand new looking for £360 as its mint hardly used from new

, i also have a lifan 125cc engine with gear lever kickstart manifold and full wiring loom with harness cdi coil and race cdi, never used even has seal over inlet on top of engine will all be going on ebay on saturday looking for £160 for engine

any tracks i can go to in bedfordshire?

i would replace the running in oil with a some putoline DX4 or other semi synthetic 10w/40 oil. As that running in oil is pants.

Just ordered 4l of putoline dx4 cheers, just read the article basically you need to rev it up hard???

Ah that will last you a while matey.

Its the oil ive always used and stomp, pit bike parts etc all supply it.

i would let it warm up for 10-15 mins and then take it easy for 3-4 hours then change oil. i just use Morrisons mineral oil in my yx160 but change every ride as i used to use motorex semi-synthetic and it would eat sets of rings and a friend recommended the mineral oil and it has run sweet since that
just remember to change after every ride.

to run it in,change oil,warm bike up and just ride as you would. there is a lot on this forum and others about this.

I've spent a good 5-6 days researching constantly on running in as i have a new motor. Its a split decision wether to use motomans advice or the factory manuals advice. Spoke to a guy with 8 (yes 8) bikes all piled up in his garden (2 rotweilers & chihuahua keep scum away). He said his 1st 3 bikes he done the ride it hard method, after 1600 miles they all had lost 1.5-3 bhp. The rest of the bikes were ran in nice and easy, they pushing a loss of less than 1bhp. This is with no service at all besides oil change at 100 miles, 500 miles then 1600 miles travelled. Been advised to open the throttle now and again but like ian1 said ride normally (try to avoid cruising at same rpm for too long though. The ride it hard method is for racers who rebuild their engines regularly and congrats on your new bike.

what do you think off the frame on your new bike?(2012 xlr)
have you had any problems?
my mates had two frames now and both are very poorly made,there not even straight!and the welder must be blind.they are a joke. demon x have meant to of changed factorys in china and must be cutting corners. just wanted to see if any one else has noticed this.
