Cg125 clone oil leak
Alright, chinese cg125. The gear lever seal is leaking, not a major problem but Id like to get it fixed. Iv looked through the part fiches I have access to, so Im fairly sure I can replace it without opening the engine. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Typical chinese, some great others scrap. This ones done almost 10000kms (+/-6000m) and no problems, well maintained to a fault but treated hard.

Re: Cg125 clone oil leak
Mine was maintained well but i gave it death constantly and then sold it.
I miss it so much.
So how badly does it leak. i know it sounds stupid but lean the bike on its side and spray wd-40 all over the seal. It must make the seal expand and it will last for a few weeks just if your in need of it. I've heard of it done before dont know if it actualy works.
Call me stupid

Re: Cg125 clone oil leak
It doesnt look too bad to be honest, but iv just noticed it. Will give it a clean and keep tabs on it. Thinners would also make it expand but Id be worried about degrading the seal further.

Re: Cg125 clone oil leak
Thinners is an old method for getting rubber to swell, when it dries out its shrinks tho. Just given it a clean and im thinking its actually oil from the chain... Im a twit if it is but a happy twit! Im using gearbox oil in a home build oiler system so heres hoping.

Re: Cg125 clone oil leak
No a chain oiler, engines are practically identical at least via visual comparison.

I see would grease not be a better idea or what i did with my Honda xlr engined Suzuki LT160 was position the breather over the chain as the upright engines generaly breath quite heavily.
