Question Zongshen 125cc or YX140cc?

Personally I want the Zongshen as its a good strong engine with plenty to do if I want. But the 140cc with z40 cam is very very tempting. What do you guys think?

I've not heard much about the zonger in terms of reliability - especially when tuned.

Worth finding out first, cos a bigger engine is more likely to make the same power reliably than a smaller higher tuned engine. And the yx140 is a good solid choice.

Ive got 28mm bore exhaust and new Mikuni vm22. Would like the 140 but it seems every one is always having problems on here. If I did get it the only tune would be the z40 cam. As for the zonga ive heard quite alot of good and they have their own racing team. I wouldnt do any tuning to it though I reckon.

I heard some thing along the same line. Sounds like the best choice. Good strong engine.

Re: Zongshen 125cc or YX140cc?

I have z125HO and in stock form is as quick as 140. I have tested it against friends yx140. Same gearing and on straight I was a tad quicker, but I weigh about 2 stones less than him

It has a bit less torque than 140 but this engine screams. You have to keep revs high to be on power but it's more fun!

Just don't get standard zongshen 125 engine, make sure it's HO.

Re: Zongshen 125cc or YX140cc?

Ive had both and the the 140 as abit more top end over the stock z125 but fiddyp did a z125 with gt speedflash and got about 18bhp. And the gear box in the z125 are really good i hammered mine never had a problem but ive had a zongshen 140 and it went bang after about 25 hours on the crank casings.

Am now on a yx 140 but only had 5 hours upto now but so far so good ive built it up from a box of bits off a friend and bits off my zongshen 140.
