British Dirt Track CROSS - Round 2 nr Swindon

The second round of the British Dirt Track Cross Championships will take place, on Saturday 9th June at the Grass Circuit at Idover Lane, Dauntsey, Swindon, the scene for the awesome Dirt Track Oval round 2. This time it is the Dirt Track Cross second round so as well as taking in the Grass Oval the racers will be heading over the infield for right and left hand bends as well as small jumps and technical sections.

The championships, includes QUADS, MOTO CROSS, MINI BIKES as well as support class for Dirt Track Solo.

The Welsh Pitbikes sponsored Mini Bike Class was entertaining as always in round one at Newport Stadium and was won by Devon MX ace Steve Martin ahead of STOMP works racer Luke Coker followed by Mini Bike Veteran Craig Lucas, with a full line up of two heats of racers taking part.

Dirt Track Cross has been said to be a cross between Speedway and Moto Cross and is perfect for riders of all abilities to take part in sprint races with the rounds at the Newport Speedway Stadium being hugely popular

Practice starts at 10.30am with the first race at 11.45am.

Unfortunatley due to appalling weather we have had to postpone this Saturdays Dirt Track cross event
EVENT DIRECTOR TONY NASH - I have arrived at the venue this morning to crack on with the build, and after consultation with the farmer and what I can see with my eyes, and under foot I am forced to POSTPONE tomorrows planned Dirt Track Cross. This is damage limitation on the land for the long term plans, practice evenings and events we have for the future. Plus the fact if we were to try and run and have to cancel on the day we would have wasted so much of people’s money in fuel. We always endeavour to put on the best events we can and will continue to do so but sometimes we have to admit defeat by the British Weather and this is one of those instances.
We had a very good entry for this event, with many new riders looking to try this format, and lots of enquiries coming in over the last few days, we now look forward to welcoming them back on the restaging and showing them what Dirt Track Cross is all about.
The date we are proposing to re run the event is Sunday 1st July. Very sorry to make this hard decision because we want to see you all come and have fun but it wouldn’t be in these conditions for riders, families, supporters or event crew.
