What tool to use?

Basically i've bought quite a few spacers from garages i stated the sizes and they've all sold me the wrong ones so i'm going to just cut them down.

I've been told to use a hacksaw but the spacers are quite small and i don't have a work-top so would be a pain to hold the spacer with mole grips and try hacksaw it.

So is there anything else that anyone can recommend to make my own spacers?

if you can find a vice gently hold it in there and use a file if you dont have to take much off

Re: What tool to use?

Got to take about 2 cm's worth off as they sent me out like 5cm ones when i asked for 2.7cm ones.

Will an angle grinder do the job? I can honestly say i've never used one but i do have access to one if that can manage it.

Re: What tool to use?

dont hold it with mole grips and use a angle grinder, will fly off and do some damage if your not careful. You need a vice really mate

That's true mate i wouldn't trust myself with holding mole grips and the angle grinder as one slip - bye bye fingers.

I'll pop down to BnQ and get a vice also, if i'm going to do it i'll do it properly i don't want a shoddy job of the spacers either.

An angle grinder will shape the spacer off at an angle. Which will result in an un-true face for the bearing race to sit against.

And before you know it you'll be changing your wheel bearings.

I'd need to ride to my local workshop as it's a good 3mile away, and with my bike missing 1 spacer i can't get there otherwise i'd of just took the spare spacers i had and got them cut down to size.

Aha sound like a plan, i've got 2.3cm's to fill on the spindle would they give me enough width to cover that?

They are about £1 for a pack of 10. So just buy a few packs.
