What to look for when buying a used bike?

Going down to look at a 2006 CR85.

Just need to know what to look for

-Compression
-Gearbox oil burning
- I will check swingarm and linkage bearings if its on a stand.

What else?

haha dude same here

but best things to look for.. leaking, oil anywhere, lean the bike over and see if anything drips,it has all the engine parts on it,plastics arent cracked inside,wheels/tyres/spokes are all good and tight, handlebars are ok,cables,cluth/throttle...
frame,rust,exhaust hasnt got dents ect..

uhm .... no leaks under the fuel tank.. forks//shocks all good and no cracks, dents ect...

now if i had of knew all tht a few years back i wouldnt of baught a bike tht had nearly all tht wrong with it xD

Could of been they weren't tightened up correctly after a rebuild and just worked loose.
There was still some fluid in the fork so it was all still lubed, the bushes are fine.
I'll just put them away till i need them.

Good luck with your new bike. (when you get it)

Re: What to look for when buying a used bike?

1st of all make sure it the year they say if you look at the wheels it will have the year it should say 05 DOT. That means it`s defo a 06 they always make wheels 1 year b4 the bike so if it says 04 DOT its 2005 or 07 DOT its 2008 ect ect also with 2 stroke motocross bikes make sure you use your hand on the kick start and move it down slowly and listed for grinding if it grinds may need a new piston kit or rebore should glide nicly with no noise if ok also go through all the gears when riding it. give it a good old thrashing.... warm it up 1st tho lol
