Help with front brake pads

I went to put my front wheel on and the brake pad fell out and now i cant get it back on.

It looks kinda like that but im not sure if im supposed to use the smaller pad aswell because i cant seem to find a way to keep it secure.

Yes up def need both pads won't stop without it lol. They are not secured like they would be on a car.

Take caliber off if haven't already will be a lot easier to see what's going on.

The brake pads are on but the brake doesnt seem to have any wire attached and when i pull the brake in the metal part in the caliber doesnt go back in unless i push it back in

What wire are you looking for mate?
and the metal bit do you mean the piston or the bolting bracket?

I'm not sure if the brake lever is meant to have a wire like the clutch does or not but when i pull it in it feels too easy and doesnt seem to do anything and yea i meant the piston.

I was planning to do that this morning when i went round my dad(its round his) but i forgot to take my phone so i couldnt take any pics of it so ill make sure to bring it tomorrow.

I just remembered that because i spent...way too long trying to fix the brake pads i forgot to put the wheel spacers on, could this be why its not working?
