Which tdc at crank

Ok so I lost the timing on my XT but i can re-set that easily

BUT i had a thought... if the plug only sparks on one of the 2 tdc's then how do i know which of the 2 my crank is at, to go with the markings on my cam?

Bit hard to explain but surely if i do it at the wrong one it will spark at the wrong tdc = failll

Re: Which tdc at crank

You set the timing on the tdc on the Exhaust stroke

Re: Which tdc at crank

When I align it all up with the marks on cam and marks on crank/flywheel it spins 360 degrees on the crank (or 180 on the cam) then hits a valve..............pfffffffff rebuilt it like 8 times now

Re: Which tdc at crank

Took the head off at the point where it makes contact to see - both of the valves are lifted slightly like they aren't seated - but back at the tdc I set it to they are fine

It is like ALMOST 180 degrees on the cam when it makes contact
