Bike: xplorer 110?
explorer 110 project

hi all welcome to my explorer 110 project thread.. i picked the bike up this easter weekend for £120 as a runner but in need of some tlc.
Due to it being Easter I've not really had loads of time on the bike yet approx 2 hours. But I've had enough time to rectify a few small issues whilst opening a can of worms at the same time

when i collected the bike it was having running difficulties with over revving and bogging out.

things i have discovered so far:
Engine oil filthy and overfull.
exhaust stud snapped in the head.
brake lines split.
carb gasket wrong and incorrectly fitted.
the head has some form of alloy weld/sealant.
and a few other niggly bits and bobs like damaged wires. insecure bits etc.

feel free to let me know what you think and any advice info is welcome and ill be sure to keep you all up to date as i dive deeper into the unknown IMG_20160327_120519.jpgIMG_20160327_120538.jpgIMG_20160327_120555.jpg

Re: explorer 110 project

to be honest ... as of yet im not 100% sure ... the key target for now is to get it up and running and see what shes capable of ive got to order a new cylinder head , carb and a few bottles of oil to give it a good flush through but once shes running that will be the real start of things to come ive got a few visions on how i want it to look its just time and money dependent but i know 100% that im putting bigger wheels on it

Re: explorer 110 project

hi all quick update ... as suspected the cylinder head has had some form of alloy weld but is still leaking oil ... this has brought me to a dead end as ive spoken to a handful of companies and they have all said they dont stock nor can they get cylinder heads for this bike as it is an old engine? if ait would be anyone knows a place i can get a head for a 110 x-plorer it would be appreciated but heres a few pics of its current condition image (1).jpg

Re: explorer 110 project

Would change that swingarm straight away, and the forks but that's me
Sell the engine on eBay for 50 quid and buy a new 125 for 180

Re: explorer 110 project

I've already looked down the lines of new swing arm but I've been told I would need to change frame and shocker too ... Got a new head coming tomorrow along with mikuni vm22 carb and a few other bits .. Will get it up and running and eventually it will be either 125 or 140 .. Undecided atm haha and as for forks the current ones are getting a bit weepy so once they go I'll be getting usd for it 😁
