hi and welcome to my thread about my super moto build
recently i went to stretton and watched the sm pit bikes and fell in love
i have had may bikes over the years but never a motard so i thought nows the time
so i went on the interweb and found a xlr 160 for 270 and managed to get the seller down to 240 happy days.
with nothing wrong with it (so i was told) i picked it up and brought it home it was only when i got it in the garage i noticed it had no wiring it wasnt a major problem so i went on line ordered a loom and racing cdi that turned on plugged it in and hurray it started the carb was all effed up so it had a crap idle and when reved would bog but seeon fixed it with a bit of messing the problem came when i tried to put it in to gear and it did nothing
so i had a mess with the clutch cable and still nothing so i took the clutch case of all looked fine. couldnt understand why it was messing about so in the end my uncle said we will rip it apart and do a complete rebuild
so i found out why it would go into gear as soon as i pulled the right case of

so with that found i then started searching for the metal chunks witch to my amazement had ended ip in the oil screen by the sump and not damaging anything

whilst pulling the engine apart i decieded to pull the frame apart and clean it then noticed the half ass spray jon on the frame so i have a mate sandblasting it this weekend then hopefully powdercoating it also ordered some parts
new gaskets
new plug
new engine bearing kit
new piston rings
new talon rear and front sprocket
new loom
thats it so far just waiting for stuff to start arriving
